October Featured Artist: Miss Molly Monster
Everyone always asks "When did you start crocheting?" "Who taught you?" "How long have you been crocheting?" "Is it magic?". The answers in order: Tiny? (that's tiny me posing with some sort of desert) , my great grandmother (cute little lady in the hat, I always called her Old Grandma), my grandmother (sweet woman holding my niece), and my mom (here's the two of us at a concert this summer), and yes it's probably some sort of magic and/or witchcraft. The lighting is terrible but she has the best purple hair)! I started young but I couldn't tell you when. I was lucky enough to have these 3 women in my life to teach me about handicrafts and that "anything worth doing is worth doing right". Although I highly doubt my two grandmothers EVER saw me taking those skills to make creepy stuff and the occasional oversized booty, my mom likes to call those "proud mom moments" now. Basically without these ladies, I don't think I would be able to spread the smiles that I'm able with my creations.
"What have you made the most of?" That would be Rainbow cat barf scarves or some variation of barfing scarf. According to Etsy I've made 140 of these since I posted them about 5 years ago (seemed like a good Covid activity I guess? ). I would add about 25 on top of it to account for one offs along with customs and commissions I have receive through Instagram. I even made a couple teddy bear scarves! Some of my favorite scarves to make are memorials of their beloved felines by using the pictures I'm sent. Nothing better than seeing the look on someone's face when I know I've got it right.
"What is your favorite thing to make?" I love to make goats! All shapes and sizes, themes, you name it! I'm a really big fan of theme goats (as I'm sure you noticed that in some of the photos though). My personal favorites are the Popcorn Goat and the Pizza Goat along with my yearly Peter Pumpkinhead goats that I make each Halloween (of course I couldn't find any decent pictures of them though). Stay tuned! I should have this year's pumpkin head posted soon.
