March 2026 Featured Artist: Dru Nordmark

Meet Dru Nordmark, our March 2026 Featured Artist

Little Button Craft is happy to introduce you to Dru Nordmark, our March 2026 featured artist.

Dru Nordmark is a Baldwinsville based artist creating with all the things in hopes of bringing a little joy, inspiration, curiosity and creativity into the world. Read the interview below to get to know Dru a little bit better!

How long have you been making art?

I will answer that by quoting Native American stone carver, Tom Huff, who I've had the privilege of studying with. When I asked him to give me his definition of art he said without hesitation, "Life is art." We should all embrace this thought and believe every day we wake up and live our lives we are creating art!

I decided to return to college in my early 50's and created my own major, Art and Community. It was then I really started to explore opportunities like collage, stone carving, and photography on a different level and combining my interests. Music is also very important to me and you will often see pieces of music scores in my art.

I have also found expressing myself through different art forms has truly helped me through some difficult times over the past ten years. We do not need to share all the art we make with the world. Sometimes we simply have to create to help ourselves heal.

What inspires you?

Back to Tom Huff - LIFE! I'm always inspired by nature! If I am painting or creating with collage, I tend to be drawn to very vibrant colors. Photography moves me in ways I cannot explain. Collecting items from nature and using them in art projects is also something I'm passionate about and I also dabble with yarn and fabric.Creating with my grandkids brings me so much joy because nothing is off limits or undoable thanks to their imagination. Imagination is such an underrated gift we need to encourage at every age.

Do you have a favorite piece you've created?

I created a collage piece of Frida Kahlo I absolutely loved! It involved paint, paper, real leaves and lots of love! Creating one of a kind cards and small art canvases are also a lot of fun!

What artists have influenced you?

Tom Huff, Frida Kahlo, Amanda Evanston Freund, Connie Solera, the impressionists, Eric Carle, Dr Suess and Jann Brett just to name a few.
