July 2026 Featured Artist: Lanni Maszerowski of LanniMade
Hi, I’m Lanni (they/them)!
I’m a queer, disabled artist and elementary school teacher based in Rochester, NY. I started Lanni Made as a joyful, defiant response to a world that doesn’t always make space for softness, silliness, or radical self-expression.
My work blends bright colors, bold design, and a deep love of community care. Whether it's a sticker that makes you smile or a shirt that makes you feel seen, I hope my creations help people show up as their whole selves.
When I’m not teaching fifth grade or running craft tables at local markets, I’m probably making a mess somewhere, nerding out over a new book, or dreaming up my next design.
How long have you been making art?I have been making art in one form or another for most of my life, but I officially started Lanni Made in 2020 after many years of commission-based graphic design and hand-lettering work. As a kid, I was into every art form I could get my hands on, though I spent the most time with fiber arts, including weaving at the MAG workshop from ages 10 to 16, and graphic design, which I started exploring in eighth grade. In high school, I made pocket money designing websites for classmates, teachers, and small local businesses. I also had a tiny business selling buttons that I pressed myself. I continued doing graphic design work through grad school, though art fell a little to the wayside while I was searching for a teaching job. Still, I do not think I have ever truly stopped creating for a day in my life.
What inspires you?
My work is inspired by queer joy, social justice, disability pride, colorful fashion, rainbows, and the small things that make life feel more joyful and meaningful. I love creating art that is bold, accessible, a little playful, and able to make someone feel seen. My work with queer youth is a huge inspiration for me!
Do you have a favorite piece that you’ve made? What is it?I think it would definitely be my Rochester ABCs risograph print. It was truly a labor of love, and I am so proud of how it came together. I would love to take on another big project like it soon, though life has thrown some major curveballs my way over the past year.
Who are artists that influence you?Too many to name! I am especially drawn to queer and disabled artists who use color, humor, and visual storytelling to make people feel understood. Locally, I am very inspired by the colorful work of Anna Vos of Anna Parade, the letterpress work of Type High Letterpress, the painting and collage work of Patrick Mess, and the queer activism art of Jess Bird of Bless the Messy. My foray into risograph work has been inspired by Evan Bobrow at Rathaus Press!
Where can we find your artwork? Any events coming up?My work is available year-round at lannimade.com and in my Etsy shop, along with in person at Little Button Craft. I also sell in person at art markets and festivals throughout the year. Upcoming summer events include Queer Handmade Rochester on June 27-28, Corn Hill Festival on July 11-12 and Rochester Pride on July 18. The best place to find my most current event schedule is Instagram!
